- 1945:übernahmen die Brüder Karl und Theo Albrecht den Lebensmittelladen ihrer Mutter im Essen und machten die Firma schnell größer .
- 1961: Nach einem Streit teilten die beiden die Firma .Theo wurde Chef der Läden im Norden ,übernahm diejenigen im Süden . Die Firmen sind bis heute getrennt .
